Working Form Home

The recent pandemic has changed the way we live, the way we work, and the way we eat. Immunity has become the new power word, and everyone is in the race to stay fit and maintain healthy habits. But why did we have to wait for a pandemic to value immunity? A body’s immunity is not built or maintained overnight. It is the consequences of our choices and the healthy habits that are a part of our lifestyle – whether it is eating right, working out, or just replacing sugar with some honey.

Working from home is comfortable for many, but it is not easy. Extended work hours, trying to focus in between all house roles and noise, and having a meeting without any interruptions are few cons often talked about. Staying healthy at home may sound easy as we have access to our kitchen and home ingredients, but is not as simple as it sounds.

It is said that it takes 21 days to form a habit. So let’s start a good one.

Develop a habit of self-love, self-development, and self-care! Well, just little steps like a home workout, a good diet plan, and some alone time to enhance your hobbies are great to start with. We have listed down 5 healthy habits for those working from home.

1: Do Not Skip Breakfast

Nowadays, our day starts with a zoom meeting call and is heavily scheduled with extended working hours. Sleeping late has become a routine, unhealthy practice. We often end up waking late, just a minute before the meeting starts! In this hustle, we often miss breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day. If you are learning how to be healthy at work or home, one rule that fits all plans is never to skip breakfast!

A healthy breakfast helps regain your blood sugar, necessary for functioning the muscles and the brain. Skipping breakfast will keep you low on energy and lethargic throughout, especially if ‘workout’ is on your mind!

Tip: Note down your meal plan.

This includes breakfast- snack- lunch-snack-dinner. When we say snacks, we do not mean junk! Preferably try some dry fruits, a toast with a fat-free slice of cheese, or maybe a fruit would be ideal. Keep your breakfast high in carbohydrates and fiber while your lunch high in protein and vitamins. Another health tip is to reduce the intake of carbohydrates post 6 pm. Eat light for dinner and make sure it’s all done before the clock strikes 9 pm.

2: Drink at least 2 liters of water.

Drinking water is a healthy habit at all times! If you are wondering how to be healthy at work, always set a timer that reminds you to drink water every hour. Due to a lot of extended work hours, we may often miss drinking water, which is not a good for our health.

The more water content in your body, the less you would suffer from dehydration. Drinking water also lowers the chances of other severe illnesses and diseases.

3: Exercise! Exercise! Exercise!

If you are working from home, you may have calls scheduled late in the evenings, which means you may skip your workout sessions. But there are many workouts that you can do from home. These exercises will keep you fit until you hit the gym next.

Here are a few exercises to try now!

4: Some Family Time.

They say laughter is the best medicine and indeed an excellent way to stay healthy. Happiness is good for your mind and heart. Even when we are working remotely we do not make time for our family in the hustle of life. Spending time with family keeps us happy, which also impacts positively on our health.

How about watching a family movie or playing UNO with everyone? Family time is a great habit. We often forget to give credit to mental health, which is an important aspect that we often miss.

5: Self Love and Self Care

Everything else that your body needs is secondary, while self-love is primary. Let “Do what you love, love what you do” be your goal. Start with a hobby and make it your passion. Develop a new skill or enhance an old one. Refresh, Regain and Rejuvenate!

So, we have chalked out a few little habits which are not difficult at all. Incorporate these into your everyday lifestyle and live a healthy life. How to be healthy at work is a popular question, significantly when the working paradigms have changed. So having healthy habits like these, whether you are at home or work, is a great way to stay healthy.
